ในระบบเผาไหม้แบบ Fluidized Bed จะใส่ทรายซิลิกาลงในเตาเผาเพื่อทำหน้าที่เป็น ตัวกลางนำความร้อน (Heat Transfer Medium) เมื่อเป่าลมร้อนแรงดันสูงจากด้านล่างขึ้นมา เม็ดทรายจะลอยตัวและเคลื่อนที่หมุนวนคล้ายน้ำเดือด (Fluidization)

In a fluidized-bed combustor, silica sand is loaded into the furnace to act as a heat transfer medium. High-pressure hot air blown up from below lifts and circulates the grains like boiling water (fluidization).

When biomass fuel such as rice husk, wood chips or palm shell is fed in, it mixes with the intensely hot sand, transferring heat rapidly and burning efficiently.

High thermal resistance — withstands furnace temperatures of 800–1,000°C without melting or deforming.
High durability and hardness — grains constantly collide with each other and the furnace wall; strong sand does not shatter into dust easily.
Uniform size (precision-sieved) — if sizes vary too much, fluidization becomes unstable and heat is distributed unevenly.

Clinker formation — sand that cannot take the heat, or carries impurities, melts and fuses into rock-like lumps that block airflow, disrupt circulation and can shut the furnace down.
Boiler tube erosion — brittle sand breaks into dust that scours the boiler tubes until they thin and leak, a leading cause of unplanned shutdowns.
Wasted fuel and lost opportunity — an unstable bed means frequent cleaning and tube replacement, costing both maintenance budget and generation revenue.
